Dear Colleagues,
We had many excellent nominations for the PDK Awards this year, a true testimony to the quality of education our children are receiving on a daily basis. It was a pleasure for the PDK Board to read all of the letters of recommendation sent to us and it is with great honor that we announce the recipients of this year’s PDK awards.
Outstanding Elementary Teacher- Stephanie Randolph, Johnson Elementary School
Outstanding Secondary Teacher – Debra Skolnick, Walton Middle School
Outstanding First Year Teacher – Alena Lavrentyeva, Brownsville Elementary School
Sylvia Henderson Early Childhood Educational Leadership Award – Angela Amburn, Albemarle County Public Schools
Alton L. Taylor Leadership Award – Eric Johnson, Buford Middle School
We are also very pleased to announce that Kathryn Baylor, principal of Jouett Middle School, will be the recipient of our inaugural Distinguished Leadership Award for her work over the years to establish the school she leads as an AVID Demonstration School.
Additionally, we proudly announce that Kelly Wilson, a graduating senior at Albemarle County High School, will be the recipient of our first presentation of the Dr. James Rutrough and Nelva Hale Rutrough scholarship. This $1000 scholarship is reserved for graduating seniors from our area who will be pursuing an education degree.
Respectfully,
Doug Granger
