This will be a learning tool for all of us, including myself! I was inspired to begin a PDK Blog after attending the 2010 ASCD Conference in Williamsburg and listening to my Superintendent, Pam Moran. I am interested in hearing from my fellow educators about what really matters to students at the end of each day of school? Think about what really matters to you at the end of each day. Think about the idea of only having only seven more days to live, what would really matter to you?
This is such a great idea! I'm excited about all that will be shared here.
I think, at the end of the day, children want to feel as though their teachers have connected with them and helped them connect to the subjects that are being taught...that learning is an intimate and exciting adventure! At the end of the day I feel most inspired when I have seen or taken part in the "magical" event of learning.
As far as only having 7 more days to live...family matters the most. I'll know that I can rest when they know how much I love them, their physical needs are provided for, and they are all well aware of their place in this world.
Thanks for starting this!

At the end of each day, I believe what matters to each student is that he/she know that we (the teachers) have faith in them and believe that they are a valuable part of our classroom community. In order for them to intrinsically know this, we must spend time building relationships with our students, learning about them so that we can relate their learning and our teaching to their lives. We must pursue the success of each student with vigor, searching for tools that meet each child's needs. Knowing that we value them and truly want them to succeed will lead to more purposeful learning and more powerful teaching.
Thanks for beginning this, Michele! I look forward to connecting with others in this way. :)
